From January 11th to 12th, 2015, Lina Zhang, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor of Wuhan University, was invited by college of Materials Science and Engineering for an exchange visit.  On the morning of 12th, Professor Lina Zhang gave a report entitled new materials based on natural polymers in Yifu Building.  The report was presided over by Professor  Jiaping Lin, Executive Vice-Dean of the Graduate School. Professor Chunzhong Li, Professor Weihong Zhu who is the winner of the Outstanding Youth Fund and Professor Meidong Lang, Professor Yongsheng Li, Professor Shaoliang Lin, Professor Qixin Zhuang from the college of Materials, etc also attended the report.

In the report, Professor Lina Zhang explained the importance of the research on natural polymer materials from the perspective of sustainable development. She explained the method and mechanism of dissolving cellulose and chitin at low temperature, and introduced the application fields of cellulose and chitin in detail, such as cellulose/inorganic particle-composites, cellulose/polyaniline composites, chitin biomedical materials, hydrogel and aerogel, composite membranes and so on. She pointed out that physically dissolving and synthesizing of natural polymer materials is a completely green way to prepare materials, promising to replace traditional petroleum processed polymer materials in the future. The report attracted many teachers and students, aroused the wide interest of the present teachers and students, everyone eagerly asked questions.
