On the morning of October 15th, Professor Xianzheng Zhang of Wuhan University was invited to visit our school to be a guest at the 99th distinguished Teachers' lecture hall, and gave an academic report entitled "research on biomedical polymer/polypeptide materials" for the teachers and students of our school. The lecture was presided over by Professor Jiaping Lin, Executive Vice-Dean of the Graduate School. Professor Changsheng Liu, Dean of the college of Materials and Professor Meidong Lang, Professor Yongsheng Li, Vice-Dean of the college of Materials attended the lecture.
Professor Xianzheng Zhang introduced his group's research work in recent years, the main idea is design and synthesis of biological polypeptide macromolecule with different structure, then introduce with fluorescent, intelligent, targeted functional groups to achieve functional transformation, and study the biological polypeptide material's specific binding in the body which is expected to be applied in gene therapy, tissue engineering and drug delivery. After the report, the participating teachers and graduate students raised many questions and ideas, and Professor Xianzheng Zhang answered and analyzed them, and discussed them with everyone.
Professor Xianzheng Zhang was funded by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2011. His research focuses on the fundamental theory of biomedical polymers and their applications in the fields of biomedicine and biotechnology. He has published more than 200 papers in Prog. Polym. Sci., J. Am. Chem. Soc., Biomaterials, Macromolecules, J. Control Release, Biomacromolecules and other journals. He was cited 4,000 times, and H index is 36.
